Chrysalis Art Program (Edmonton and Calgary)
The Chrysalis Art Program encourages individuals with disabilities to develop artistic technique with professional tools and guidance. The program also explores new methods of communication, accesses different avenues of imagination and seeks to empower each artist with a great sense of purpose and value. Art work produced from this program is showcased throughout communities and made available for purchase. Individuals participating in this program have learned of the vision, value and significance they possess and can contribute to the world through their unique, artistic works.
See Chrysalis Art Program Blog -Edmonton Public Exhibitions: In 2008-2009, Chrysalis secured several venues where Chrysalis artwork was displayed and available for purchase to the public. Mélange Salon & Spa — a spa and salon in the south end of Edmonton offered their venue as studio space for a minimum one-year term to Chrysalis artists. This partnership grants the opportunity for one client at a time to display his or her work in a commercial space. In addition to Mélange Salon & Spa, Chrysalis secured exhibition spaces at the Stanley Milner Public Library, and Misericordia Hospital. First Annual Chrysalis Art Show — On December 3rd, 2008, Chrysalis Edmonton opened its doors to over 200 guests to showcase some of the incredible work created by Chrysalis artists.
