Chrysalis Programs and Services
Chrysalis offers a wide rage of programs and services to adults with disabilities in Edmonton and Calgary. The main types of services are:
Vocational Services provides goal-directed training and on-the-job support. These services focus on career planning and specific skill development. Vocational Services is geared towards assisting those seeking independent employment and volunteerism.

Life Management courses teach problem-solving skills which individuals can apply to all areas of life. Life skills facilitators help participants apply their knowledge, and practice each new skill learned, in a wide range of life situations.

Client Entrepreneurship Program provides a supportive work environment to individuals who require additional assistance in the work place. Opportunities are offered through various packaging/assembly contract jobs from community business partnerships.
Alternatives to Employment (AES) assists and supports individuals with primary developmental disabilities who desire meaningful day activities. Clients contribute to the community through volunteer opportunities. AES encourages community inclusion while enhancing the individual’s gifts and abilities.

In addition to these services, Chrysalis offers a wide range of day programs to help enrich the lives of individuals.

Q: How do I qualify for Chrysalis Services?
A: To qualify for Chrysalis’ Services you need to meet the following criteria:

  • - Be eligible for PDD (Persons with Developmental Disabilities)
    - Have a diagnosed disability
    - Be over the age of 18
    - A stabilized mental illness
    - Motivated and committed—wanting to be here and have our support to get a job
    - Responsible for own transportation

Q: What kind of jobs do you provide?
A:
At Chrysalis you will learn transferable job skills at one of our Community Based Training sites such as following instructions, problem solving and working as part of a team. Once you have demonstrated a good understanding of theses skills, we will assist you in finding a job in an area of interest to you in the community. By identifying your interests and skills we will try and match you with a job that will best suit you. We have contacts with over 300 businesses in the Edmonton area.

Q: How will I get to my job?
A:
Transportation is your responsibility.

Q: How much will I be paid?
A:
While you are participating in the 10 day assessment and the job training period, it is unpaid.

Q: How long is the job training period?
A:
The job training period is a minimum of 12 weeks. It will depend on individual support needs.
